We encourage all authors and co-authors to link their ORCIDs. It will take you only seconds to register on the http://orchid.org/ and get your ORCID ID. All information should be given in English.

2.ETHICAL STANDARDS

2.1. Human Investigation

All manuscripts submitted for publishing should contain information about patient subject inclusion, their ethical approval confirmation and were conducted in accordance with:

  • Ethical standards stated in the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki, 2013 (ethical principles of medical research involving human subjects);
  • Recommendations about carrying out, description, editing and scientific work result publication in medical journals arranged by the International committee of editors of medical journals (the section "Protection of Research Participants ", Russian translation, Section II E).

In the Materials and Methods section it has to be specified about receiving the informed consents of the human subjects included in a research. The details promoting patient personification should be excluded.

We encourage reviewers to pay attention to ethical aspects of works and report to the editor about possible violations.

2.2. Human animal care

When animals are used as subjects, experimental studies have to conform to the international and national regulations, recommendations and the Russian legal documents of humane care with laboratory animals:

  • The European convention on protection of the vertebrate animals used for experiments or in other scientific purposes: EST No. 123 of March 18, 1986, Strasbourg;
  • Order of the Russian Healthcare Ministry, April, 01.04.2016 N 199n "Approval of Rules for Appropriate Laboratory Tests" (registered in the Justice Ministry of the Russian Federation, August, 8, 2016 No. 43232);

Submitting research results to the journal, authors must confirm in the cover letter that all necessary ethical rules regarding humane animal care are respected.

3. ABSTRACT

Provide a structured abstract, no longer than 200-250 words, and divided into five sections: Background, Aim, Methods, Results and Conclusion.

An abstract should be followed by key words (3-5 words) used as a reference point for finding other words or information in search engines.

While writing a non-systematic review, description of a clinical case or observation series, publication containing the author opinion, the text of the manuscript has to be summarized in a format of an unstructured summary. However, in this case, authors should adhere to a narration order, following from an issue formulation to means and results of its decision. The unstructured summary volume should not exceed 150 words. We should keep in mind that English language summaries (papers, abstracts) in the Russian-language edition are the basic and probably the only source of information on the contents of article and research results for foreign scientists and experts.

Foreign experts determine scientific significance of a publication by its abstract, define their interest in the Russian scientific study, and could include it in their publications referring to it, enter into discussions with the author, request the full text, etc.

Following elements are provided in English:

  • initials and first name of all authors,
  • the title of the manuscript,
  • list the full names of the all institutions in which the described work was done,
  • postal address of the institution (s),
  • abstract,
  • key words (limited to 3-5 words).

When translating the author surnames it is recommended to transliterate according to the BGN system (Board of Geographic Names), at http://www.translit.ru. Concerning the institution it is important to specify officially accepted English option.

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS

The description of statistical analysis is the integral component of the "Material and Methods" section. It is necessary to provide the full list of all applied statistical methods of the analysis and criteria for hypotheses check. Such phrases like " standard statistical methods were used" should be avoided if the authors do not mention their specificity. The critical significance value accepted in this research as "р" is surely specified (e.g., "The critical significance value when checking statistical hypotheses in this research was accepted equal 0.05").

The actual size of the reached significance value р for the used statistical criterion is specified in each case (not simply as p 0.05 or p 0.05). Besides, it is necessary to specify actual values of the achieved statistical criteria (e.g., chi-square criterion = 12.3 (degrees of freedom df = 2, р = 0.0001).

Give definitions to all applied statistical terms, reductions and symbolical designations (e.g. , M – a selective average, m (SEM) – an error of the mean, STD – a selective standard deviation, р – the reached significance value).

When using expressions like M ± m you need to specify value of each symbols and volume of selection (n) as well.

If the used statistical criteria have restrictions for their application, specify how these restrictions have been checked and what the outcomes were (e.g., when using parametrical methods you should specify how the normality of selection distribution was confirmed).

It is necessary to avoid non-specific use of the terms having several values (for example, there are several options of rank correlation coefficient: Pearson, Spearmen, etc.). Average values should not be given more precisely than for one decimal sign in comparison with basic data, a mean square deviation and an error of an average – for one sign more precisely.

If the data analysis was performed with use of the statistical software package, then indicate the name of this package and its version.

4. ILLUSTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Color line drawings are submitted in TIFF (extension *.tiff), in any program: AdobePhotoShop, AdobeIllustrator with bitmap regime; images should have a resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch); it is possible to apply compressed resolution LZW or other and media types are CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW. Texts on the illustrations should be distinct. Line drawing and illustration legends should be grouped and sent on a separate page. Each drawing should have a title and indicate detailed explanations for all abbreviations.

5. TABLES FORMATTING

Each table should be numbered (if there is more than one table) at the right top, and then, below its title should be given. Word contractions should not be used. Tabulated figures should correspond to those in the text, and surely have to be processed statistically. Give tables in the text without taking them out on separate pages.

6. REFERENCE LIST

The proper description of the used sources in references is the key to the fact that the quoted publication will be considered for a scientific activity assessment of its authors and their affiliated institutions.

In original articles it is allowed to quote no more than 30 sources, in literature reviews – no more than 50, in lectures and other materials – up to 15.

The reference list should publications for the last 5 years including fundamental papers as well.

All works are to be listed in the references according to their citing in the manuscript. References to the unpublished works are not allowed.

7. REFERENCE STYLE

Rules for reference processing (list of literature sources) have to be based on the requirements of the International committee of editors of medical journals (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors - ICMJE), and also Rules for submission of journals in RINTs and requirements of State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles.

A correct description of the used sources in the reference lists is the key to the fact that the quoted publication will be considered while assessing scientific activity of the authors and their affiliated institutions.

In original articles it is allowed to quote no more than 30 sources, in reviews of literature – no more than 50, in lectures and other materials – up to 15.

The reference list has to contain, besides fundamental works, the publications for the last 5 years.

All works are listed in the reference list according to their citing. References to unpublished works are not allowed.

Names of English-language journals should be brought in reduction according to the name catalog of the MedLine database (NLM Catalog). If the journal is not indexed in MedLine, it is necessary to specify its full name.

According to the new rules considering requirements of such international citing systems as Web of Science and Scopus, bibliographies (References) are included into the English-speaking block of an article and, respectively, have to be presented not only in the original language, but also in Latin (Latin alphabet).

When the quoted information has a digital identifier (Digital Object Identifier - DOI), it is necessary to specify it at the end of the bibliographic reference. It is necessary to check presence of doi of every article on the website http://search.crossref.org/or https://www.citethisforme.com. To receive DOI, enter the name of an article in English into a search line. The last website, besides DOI, automatically generates correctly issued bibliographic description of an article in English according to AMA citing style.

Considering new regulations of such international systems as Web of Science and Scopus, bibliographic lists (References) are included into the English-speaking section of an article and, respectively, should be presented not only in the original language but also in Latin (the Roman alphabet).

8. PEER REVIEW, EDITING

All submitted articles are peer-viewed. An article is sent to reviewers without indication of the authors’ names. The authors are not informed of reviewers’ names either.
